About
Mission
Art Identity advances the arts by supporting emerging and established artists, providing arts education to the public, and fostering meaningful community involvement. We are committed to enriching cultural understanding, expanding creative opportunities, and preserving the historic sites and artistic heritage of Watauga County, North Carolina, USA
History
Art Identity was originally founded in New York City in 2015 by a group of artists and arts advocates who shared a common mission: to support creative individuals, expand access to the arts, and strengthen the relationship between artistic work and the community. For several years, the organization facilitated arts programming, collaborations, and community-focused initiatives throughout NYC.
Like many cultural nonprofits, Art Identity was significantly affected during the COVID-19 period, as many of our founding members and supporters relocated. This disruption temporarily paused our activities, but it also created the opportunity for a renewed beginning.
Art Identity has now been restarted in Boone, North Carolina, operating from a historic farm building with a unique place in Watauga County’s cultural history. This setting allows us to reconnect our mission with a community that values creativity, heritage, and preservation.
Today, we continue our commitment to supporting artists, providing arts education, engaging the community, and helping preserve Watauga County’s historic landmarks.
